| Who are Impulse Airlines? |
Impulse Airlines is one of Australia's largest independent regional passenger and freight operators. The wholly Australian operated company was founded in 1982 by Gerry McGowan and his wife Sue, as a dedicated carrier of freight for the John Fairfax newspaper group, which publishes The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review. Impulse still maintains air freight distribution and warehousing activities for Fairfax.
In 1993, Impulse extended into passenger services by acquiring the assets of NSW regional operator Oxley Airlines from Oxley's receiver. Since then, it has established a route network covering 15 destinations, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra.
